Product Transport, Handling and Installation

These instructions indicate good practice with Proplastics PVC pipes. If further detail is needed, consult our staff or your consulting engineers.

TRANSPORT OF PVC PIPES

  • Flat bed vehicles must be free of nails and sharp objects.  The tray should be equipped with strong, flat-faced uprights along each side of the tray, at about every two metres.
  • Load larger and thicker wall pipes first and nest smaller pipes inside to save space.
  • Each layer of pipes must face the opposite way, to avoid sockets touching.
  • Pipes should not overhang the tray by more than half a metre.

HANDLING AND STORAGE OF PVC PIPES

  • Damage during unloading is the client's responsibility so handle carefully!
  • Avoid contact of pipe ends with the ground at all times. Two nylon slings may help unload heavier pipes.
  • Stack each layer of pipe the opposite way on level ground or timbers to avoid sockets touching. Stack height should be limited to two metres.
  • Use timber side supports every two metres.
  • Protect long term stacks from sun, fires and pilfering. Allow pipes to "breathe" under cover to avoid warping.
